Ergo Arena is an indoor arena located on the administrative border of Gdańsk and Sopot, built as a joint investment project of the two cities. Construction ran from 2007 to 2010 (from March 2007 to May 2010), and the official opening took place on 18 August 2010 with a volleyball match between the Polish and Brazilian national teams. The investment cost PLN 346 million, made up of the budgets of Gdańsk (PLN 123 million) and Sopot, a grant from the state budget via the Ministry of Sport (PLN 61 million), and a European Union grant (PLN 40 million). The venue has a capacity of approximately 11,000 seats and up to 15,000 spectators including standing places, making it one of the largest arenas of its kind in Poland. The venue is operated by the company Hala Gdańsk-Sopot Sp. z o.o.

Significance

Ergo Arena is one of the largest indoor arenas in Poland (up to 15,000 spectators) and the country's first venue of this scale built jointly by two neighbouring cities, located literally on their administrative border. The arena was one of the venues of the 2014 Men's Volleyball World Championship and regularly hosts sporting events, concerts and cultural events of international standing.

    Stage18 sierpnia 2010 r. na płycie Ergo Areny odbył się mecz siatkarski pomiędzy biało-czerwonymi a reprezentacją Brazylii.
    UtilisationW ciągu minionych 10 lat w Ergo Arenie odbyły się aż 1253 imprezy, w tym 574 wydarzenia sportowe, 172 koncerty i 507 innych imprez, m.in. targów, konferencji czy atrakcji dla rodzin z dziećmi. Natomiast jeśli chodzi o frekwencję, wzięło w nich udział dokładnie 4 mln 45 tys. 519 widzów.
