910 MW Power Generating Unit at Jaworzno III Power Plant
A supercritical, hard-coal-fired power generating unit with a gross capacity of 910 MW (843.53 MW net), built at the Jaworzno III Power Plant by the TAURON group. TAURON Wytwarzanie S.A. signed the contract for the turnkey design and construction of the unit on 17 April 2014 with a consortium of RAFAKO S.A. and Mostostal Warszawa S.A.; the original contract value was over PLN 5.4 billion gross (about PLN 4.4 billion net). Under an amendment of 17 October 2019, the net contract price rose by PLN 52.3 million to PLN 4,537.8 million, and the deadline for handing over the unit for operation was pushed back to 31 January 2020; the planned total investment outlay was set at about PLN 6.2 billion. The unit was finally commissioned on 13 November 2020, and is described as the last large hard-coal unit brought into operation in Poland. The unit is expected to generate about 6.5 TWh of electricity a year at a net efficiency of about 45.9%. The unit's owner and operator is Nowe Jaworzno Grupa Tauron sp. z o.o., part of the TAURON Polska Energia S.A. group.

Significance
The 910 MW unit at the Jaworzno III Power Plant was the largest generating investment of the TAURON group and one of the last large coal-fired units built in Poland. The modern supercritical unit replaced worn-out 120–200 MW class units, significantly cutting emissions (SO2 and NOx down by more than 80%, CO2 by about 31% compared with the old units) and raising net efficiency to about 45.9%. It is intended to serve as a stable energy source balancing the growing share of renewable sources, supplying customers in southern Poland. Delivery was delayed against the original schedule, and after commissioning the unit became the subject of settlement disputes between TAURON and the general contractor.
