The Rzeszów Wschód – Jarosław Zachód section of the A4 motorway, 41.2 km long, in Podkarpackie Voivodeship, was one of the last sections of the longest motorway in Poland (the east-west corridor forming part of the A4 route). The investor was the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA), Rzeszów Branch. Construction began under a contract with the Polimex Mostostal S.A. / Doprastav a.s. consortium, signed on 23 September 2010 for PLN 2,195,924,087.54; this contract was terminated on 14 January 2014. The continuation works were carried out by the Budimex S.A. / Strabag Sp. z o.o. consortium under a contract dated 16 September 2014 worth PLN 985,709,828.88 (works began on 30 September 2014). The project built a dual-carriageway motorway together with the Łańcut and Przeworsk interchanges, engineering structures and access roads. The main motorway route was opened to traffic on 20 July 2016 (with sections completed on 31 August 2016 and 20 October 2016).

Significance
Completion of the Rzeszów Wschód – Jarosław Zachód section closed the A4 motorway route east of Rzeszów and was one of the last sections of the longest motorway in Poland, linking the western border with the eastern one. The construction went through a change of contractor: the original contract with the Polimex Mostostal / Doprastav consortium (2010) was terminated in 2014, and the Budimex / Strabag consortium completed the task, opening the route to traffic in 2016.
