New ArcelorMittal Poland Hot Rolling Mill in Kraków (former Sendzimir Steelworks)
The new hot rolling mill at the group's Kraków branch (in 2007, Mittal Steel Poland; the former Tadeusz Sendzimir Steelworks in the Nowa Huta district) was the largest processing investment at the Kraków plant. Construction began in 2005, and in 2007 the first slab was heated in the new furnace; the installation was commissioned in 2007 at a cost of approximately PLN 1.2 billion. The mill produces hot-rolled sheet steel for, among others, the automotive and household-appliance industries; the hot rolling mill facility itself absorbed approximately PLN 1.2 billion, and the group has invested more than PLN 3 billion in the former Sendzimir Steelworks since its privatisation in 2004. Following the 2016 expansion (a second heating furnace), the rolling line reached a capacity of around 3.3 million tonnes per year and is still regarded as the most modern hot rolling mill in Europe.

Significance
The new hot rolling mill was the largest processing investment at the Kraków plant following the privatisation of the former Sendzimir Steelworks, and enabled the group to supply hot-rolled sheet steel to the automotive and household-appliance industries.
