Maria Skłodowska-Curie Bridge (North Bridge) in Warsaw with the North Bridge Route
The Maria Skłodowska-Curie Bridge (originally called the North Bridge) is a road, tram, pedestrian and cycle bridge over the Vistula in the northern part of Warsaw, with a total length of 795 m, linking the districts of Bielany and Białołęka. It was built together with the North Bridge Route (now the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Bridge Route), a new arterial road running from the junction with Modlińska Street on the eastern bank to the Młociny interchange on the western bank. Construction began at the end of May 2009, and the road section of the bridge opened on 25 March 2012; the first tram line began operating on 21 January 2013. The investor was the City of Warsaw, with delivery carried out by the Stołeczny Zarząd Rozbudowy Miasta (SZRM). The scope of the investment included, among other things, the construction of a 4.3 km section of the route from the junction with Modlińska Street to the Młociny interchange; the stage I works (2009-2013) were valued at PLN 976,618,384, and the stage II works (2010-2012, contractor Skanska) at PLN 51.5 million. The total cost of the project was PLN 1,150,581,207, of which EU co-financing (the Cohesion Fund / Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment) accounted for PLN 374,599,231, under an agreement between the City of Warsaw and the Centrum Unijnych Projektów Transportowych (Centre for EU Transport Projects).

The Maria Skłodowska-Curie Bridge together with the North Bridge Route created a new road and tram link across the Vistula in the northern part of Warsaw, connecting the left-bank district of Bielany (the Młociny interchange) with the right-bank district of Białołęka (the junction with Modlińska Street). The investment, worth over PLN 1.15 billion and co-financed by the European Union, improved transport links for the rapidly growing districts of northern Warsaw and closed another section of the city's ring-road network.
