Modernisation of railway line E20, Siedlce – Terespol section
Modernisation of railway line E20 on the Siedlce – Terespol section, 121 km long, which forms part of Pan-European Transport Corridor II, running from west to east and linking Berlin with Moscow, leading to the border crossing with Belarus at Terespol. The aim was to bring the line up to a speed of 160 km/h for passenger traffic and 120 km/h at an axle load of 221 kN for freight traffic. The investment, carried out by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A., was implemented in stages: stage I (planned for 2004-2007), co-financed from the EU ISPA/Cohesion Fund (project no. 2001/PL/16/P/PT/012, funding sources: ISPA grant 75%, state budget 25%), covered the rebuilding of tracks, the overhead traction network, level crossings and engineering structures; the opening ceremony for the modernised section took place on 17 September 2009. Stage II, co-financed from EU funds, was carried out with completion planned for July 2015 and covered, among other things, the rebuilding of 52 infrastructure elements (level crossings, footbridges, viaducts, platforms, signal boxes) and the modernisation of the Biała Podlaska, Małaszewicze and Terespol stations; the value of the stage II works contract exceeded PLN 0.5 billion gross. According to the EU subsidy register, the value of the project "Modernisation of railway line E20 on the Siedlce – Terespol section, Phase I" was PLN 1,115,154,534.62, of which EU co-financing from the Cohesion Fund accounted for PLN 675,912,480.50; the beneficiary was PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. The cost figure in this record refers to the project value registered in the EU subsidy register (Phase I), not to the summed value of all stages from 2004-2015.

Significance
The modernised Siedlce – Terespol section is the eastern part of line E20 (LK2) Warsaw – Terespol, leading to the border crossing with Belarus and further east, forming part of Pan-European Transport Corridor II and the trans-European transport network (TEN-T). Raising the line's parameters to 160 km/h for passenger traffic and 120 km/h for freight traffic improved capacity and journey times on one of Poland's main east–west transit routes.

Independence is counted the same way the gate that admits a record counts it: subdomains and titles from one publisher are a single voice, Wikipedia is zero. That is why the number is lower than the number of links. Three is the minimum.
