The construction of the seventh paper machine (MP7) at the Mondi Świecie S.A. plant in Świecie (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship), together with a new production line for corrugated case materials, was the largest investment in the plant's history. The investment cost was approximately EUR 350 million. MP7 is a line producing lightweight recycled paper (fluting and testliner with a basis weight of 75 to 140 g/m2) with a target output of 470,000 tonnes per year and a design speed of 1,800 m/min. It is one of the fastest packaging paper machines in the world. Construction took approximately 16 months; more than 1,500 people took part in the works, and the new machine was started up in 2009. The new technology reduced steam consumption by approximately 20%, electricity consumption by approximately 30%, and water consumption by approximately 40% per tonne of paper. Mondi Group owns 100% of the share capital of Mondi Świecie S.A.

Significance

MP7 was the largest investment in the history of the Mondi Świecie plant and one of the most modern packaging paper production lines in the world. The new machine, with a target output of 470,000 tonnes of paper for corrugated board per year, significantly increased the production capacity of the plant in Świecie and strengthened its position as one of the largest packaging paper producers in this part of Europe, while lowering unit consumption of steam, electricity, and water.
