Naftoport – Marine Crude Oil and Fuels Transhipment Terminal at Port Północny, Gdańsk

Naftoport is a marine terminal for the transhipment of crude oil and petroleum products, located at Port Północny in Gdańsk. The terminal's operational history dates back to 23 July 1975, when the first cargo of crude oil was received at Port Północny (at the Liquid Fuels Base). This was one of the most important investments in the post-war history of the Polish economy. Since 1991 the facility has operated as the independent company Naftoport and serves as the maritime end point of the route diversifying Poland's crude oil supplies. The terminal is a key element in the logistics of crude oil supply and transit for Polish and German refineries, as well as in the land-sea transhipment of petroleum products; after the halt of crude oil imports from Russia, it became the most important point for receiving deliveries by sea and now accounts for more than 50% of total transhipments at the Port of Gdańsk. The majority shareholder of the company is PERN (approximately 66.67% of shares); other shareholders include Orlen, Port Północny, J&S Service & Investment, and the State Treasury. The government administration describes Naftoport as one of the key facilities ensuring Poland's energy security.
