Construction of the S3 expressway on the section from Szczecin (the Klucz interchange) to Gorzów Wielkopolski (the Gorzów Północ interchange), 81.613 km long, of which 66.083 km lies in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship and 15.530 km in the Lubusz Voivodeship. The investment was carried out by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA). The route was divided into three implementation tasks entrusted to different contractors: section I, Klucz–Pyrzyce (km 0–28.2), worth PLN 666,986,515.50, was built by a consortium involving Hermann Kirchner Bauunternehmung, Max Bögl, Energopol Szczecin and Josef Möbius Bau; section II, Pyrzyce–Myślibórz (km 28.2–54.9), worth PLN 676,780,537.53, was carried out by Budimex Dromex S.A.; section III, Myślibórz–Gorzów Północ (km 54.9–81.613), worth PLN 593,426,066.57, was carried out by Berger Bau GmbH. Construction of the first of the sections began in October 2007. The total value of the project was PLN 2,307,000,000.00, with a maximum co-financing amount from European Union funds (the Cohesion Fund) of PLN 1,753,378,093.45. On 30 December 2010 the entire section of the S3 under construction was opened to traffic.

Significance
The S3 Szczecin – Gorzów Wielkopolski section was the first fragment of the S3 expressway to be opened; construction of the entire S3 route began in 2007 precisely with this section. The road is an element of the trans-European transport network and connected the Szczecin agglomeration with Gorzów Wielkopolski, creating a grade-separated north–south corridor in western Poland. The investment, worth over PLN 2.3 billion, was financed to a large extent from the EU Cohesion Fund (co-financing of up to PLN 1.75 billion).
