S8 Expressway Wyszków – Mazowieckie/Podlaskie voivodeship border (Warsaw – Białystok direction)
Construction of the S8 expressway on the Wyszków – Mazowieckie/Podlaskie voivodeship border section, 38.5 km long in total, forming part of the Warsaw – Białystok expressway route. The project was carried out by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) and co-financed from the EU Cohesion Fund under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014–2020. The task was divided into three sections: Wyszków – the 'Poręba' interchange (12.987 km), the 'Poręba' interchange – Ostrów Mazowiecka (approximately 16.112 km), and from the Ostrów Mazowiecka bypass to the voivodeship border (approximately 9.397 km). The new dual-carriageway expressway starts in the Brańszczyk commune in Wyszków county and ends in the Ostrów Mazowiecka commune at the voivodeship border. The co-financing agreement was signed on 27 June 2016, and the individual sections were opened to drivers in 2018 (among others, the Ostrów Mazowiecka – voivodeship border section was handed over to drivers in July 2018). The total project value was PLN 1,170,366,579.20, of which the maximum EU co-financing amount was PLN 610,086,082.82.

Significance
The Wyszków – Mazowieckie/Podlaskie voivodeship border section completed the S8 expressway connection along the Warsaw – Białystok route, replacing the former single-carriageway national road no. 8 with a modern dual-carriageway expressway. The 38.5 km project, opened to drivers in 2018, improved the safety and capacity of one of the main transport corridors of north-eastern Poland, taking transit traffic out of towns such as Ostrów Mazowiecka. It is part of the whole S8 Warsaw – Białystok route, construction of which was completed in 2019.
