The Sharp Manufacturing Poland sp. z o.o. plant in Łysomice (Ostaszewo) near Toruń, in the Pomorska Special Economic Zone, was the Japanese Sharp group's first investment in Poland and its first factory in Europe. The investment was estimated at PLN 595 million. The factory started producing LCD modules for LCD televisions in January 2007; it was designed to produce around 10 million LCD modules a year and to employ at least 3,000 people once fully operational. The plant became the nucleus of a television-production cluster near Toruń (the Sharp/Orion park), attracting subcontractors and suppliers.

Significance
