The Integrated Project for the modernisation and development of tram infrastructure in the Śląsko-Zagłębiowska Agglomeration, together with the purchase of tram rolling stock, is Tramwaje Śląskie S.A.'s second major investment programme, co-financed from EU funds under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment (POIiŚ) 2014-2020. The Project's total value is approximately PLN 1.57 billion, with planned EU co-financing of PLN 710,474,731.80. The undertaking was divided into phases: phase I, with a total value of PLN 766,778,485.00 (co-financing of PLN 393,332,262.09, co-financing agreement of 11 December 2017), covered approximately 42 km of tram lines and the purchase of 45 new vehicles; phase II, with a total value of PLN 186,168,843.27 (co-financing of PLN 98,031,313.76, agreement of 26 February 2018), covered approximately 23 km of modernised and new routes; further phases, including phase IV carried out under REACT-EU (co-financing agreement of 31 July 2023, purchase of 6 new trams), closed out the undertaking. Infrastructure works were carried out across 10 cities: Będzin, Bytom, Chorzów, Dąbrowa Górnicza, Katowice, Mysłowice, Ruda Śląska, Sosnowiec, Świętochłowice and Zabrze.

Significance
Following the 2007-2013 programme, this was the second major modernisation of the core tram network in Poland's most densely populated conurbation, operated by Tramwaje Śląskie S.A. Under POIiŚ 2014-2020, dozens of kilometres of track and overhead traction network were modernised and new low-floor rolling stock was purchased, improving the accessibility and quality of public transport in 10 cities of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis (GZM). Given its scale (total value of approximately PLN 1.57 billion), it was one of the largest urban-transport investments in Poland in the 2014-2020 EU financial perspective.
