Spike-LR anti-tank guided missiles (licensed production at ZM Mesko)
A programme to acquire and licence-produce third-generation Spike-LR anti-tank guided missiles, designed by the Israeli company Rafael. On 29 December 2003, agreements were signed between the Ministry of National Defence (MON) and PHZ Bumar / ZM Mesko S.A., and between PHZ Bumar / ZM Mesko S.A. and Rafael. The value of the contract for deliveries in 2004–2013 was approximately PLN 1.487 billion and covered 264 portable launchers and 2,675 missiles. Licensed production started at Zakłady Metalowe MESKO S.A. in Skarżysko-Kamienna in 2007; components manufactured domestically included the launch and sustainer motors, both warheads, the liquid-nitrogen bottle and the tubular launch/transport container. The missile's polonisation (local-content) level was estimated at approximately 20%, and the first examples produced in Poland were successfully tested in 2007. The entire contracted batch of 2,675 missiles was delivered to the armed forces by 2013.

Significance
The 2003 Spike-LR contract was the first large-scale undertaking to licence-produce a modern "fire and forget" anti-tank guided missile in Poland. The launch of component manufacturing (motors, warheads, the launch/transport container) at ZM Mesko in Skarżysko-Kamienna built up domestic production capabilities, on which subsequent Spike missile contracts in later years were based, and placed Poland among the producers of this weapon. The 264 launchers and 2,675 missiles delivered by 2013 became the principal anti-tank equipment of Polish Armed Forces sub-units.
