A1 motorway Toruń–Stryków (GDDKiA's central section, POIiŚ)
The central, approximately 150-kilometre section of the A1 motorway between Toruń and the Stryków interchange (Łódź Północ), carried out by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) as a single project co-financed under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment (2007-2013 perspective). The total value of the project "Construction of the A-1 motorway, Toruń-Stryków section" was PLN 5,714,122,009.95, of which EU funding reached PLN 2,826,274,768.74. The investment was carried out in independently contracted sections (including Kowal-Sójki, Sójki-Kotliska, Kotliska-Piątek, Piątek-Stryków), construction of which started in 2010. The Łódź Północ interchange was opened to traffic on 3 June 2012, and most of the sections south of Kowal were made available to drivers on 13 November 2012, ahead of the post-UEFA Euro 2012 season. The sections north of Kowal (Czerniewice-Brzezie and Brzezie-Kowal) were delayed after the withdrawal, on 6 September 2012, from contracts with consortia involving companies from the PBG group and Hydrobudowa Polska, which declared bankruptcy; completion was awarded to a consortium of Salini Polska and Impregilo (contracts of 3 April 2013). The Czerniewice-Pikutkowo section opened on 21 December 2013, and Pikutkowo-Kowal on 30 April 2014, closing the continuous A1 motorway connection between Toruń and Stryków.

Significance
The Toruń-Stryków section filled the central gap in the A1 motorway, connecting the northern, concession-based Gdańsk-Toruń stretch with the road network of the Łódź agglomeration and the interchange with the A2 motorway (Łódź Północ/Stryków). The route is part of the trans-European TEN-T north-south corridor and was one of the largest road investments co-financed under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment (EU co-financing of approximately PLN 2.83 billion out of a total value of approximately PLN 5.71 billion). The opening of most sections in November 2012 significantly shortened transit journeys between the north and the centre of the country; the delay of the sections north of Kowal, caused by the bankruptcy of contractors from the PBG group and Hydrobudowa Polska, pushed the full closure of the connection to 2014.

Independence is counted the same way the gate that admits a record counts it: subdomains and titles from one publisher are a single voice, Wikipedia is zero. That is why the number is lower than the number of links. Three is the minimum.
