Purchase of 35 Siemens Inspiro trains for the Warsaw Metro
On 2 February 2011, Metro Warszawskie Sp. z o.o. signed a contract with the consortium of Siemens AG (Siemens Sp. z o.o., Siemens Österreich) and Newag SA from Nowy Sącz for the delivery of 35 six-car Inspiro trains (210 cars in total). The value of the contract was PLN 1,069,594,000 net (approximately PLN 1.3 billion gross including 23% VAT). According to Siemens, this was the largest order the company had ever received in Poland; part of the production was carried out at Newag's plants in Nowy Sącz, and the first ten trains were assembled at Siemens's factory in Vienna. The first train arrived at the Kabaty Technical and Stabling Station on 21 December 2012, the first two Inspiro trains entered passenger service on line M1 on 6 October 2013, and the last ordered train was delivered to Kabaty on 27 October 2014. The new rolling stock primarily served line M1 and the first section of metro line II (M2), opened in 2015.

Significance
The 2011 contract was the largest single rolling-stock purchase in the history of the Warsaw Metro and, according to Siemens, the largest order the company had received in Poland up to that time. The 35 Inspiro trains (210 cars) nearly doubled the metro fleet and made it possible to increase service frequency on line M1 and to launch operations on the central section of metro line II, opened in 2015. The Warsaw Inspiro was the first deployment of this Siemens train family anywhere in the world, and a significant part of production was located at Newag's Polish plant in Nowy Sącz.
