A construction section of the S7 expressway (part of the 'Construction of the S7 road Radom (Jedlińsk) – Jędrzejów' project) between Skarżysko-Kamienna and Występa, 16.67 km long, built in the Świętokrzyskie voivodeship as a dual-carriageway expressway bypassing Suchedniów, Ostojów, Łączna and Występa. The beneficiary and investor was the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA), and the project was co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund. The contract for the main construction works (worth PLN 527,427,694.39) was concluded on 27 January 2009 with the consortium of Strabag Sp. z o.o. (leader) and Mota-Engil S.A. (partner); the section was opened to traffic on 28 April 2011. The total project value was PLN 719,147,926.92, of which EU co-financing reached PLN 504,927,128.99. The task included the construction of 29 engineering structures, including viaducts, bridges, two road interchanges (Suchedniów and Zalezianka), wildlife crossings, and noise barriers and other environmental protection measures.

Significance

The Skarżysko-Kamienna – Występa S7 section took transit traffic on national road no. 7 (the Warsaw – Kraków route) away from the localities of Suchedniów, Ostojów, Łączna and Występa, replacing the former route through built-up areas with a new dual-carriageway expressway. The project formed part of the construction of the S7 corridor in the Świętokrzyskie voivodeship and was one of the region's larger road projects co-financed from European funds during that period.
