S8 Expressway Konotopa – Powązkowska (Trasa Armii Krajowej, Warsaw)

An urban section of the S8 expressway, approximately 10.4 km long, in Warsaw, connecting the Konotopa interchange (junction with the A2 motorway and the S8 expressway heading west) with al. Prymasa Tysiąclecia and the existing Trasa Armii Krajowej. The route runs grade-separated through the western districts of the capital, with the Mory, Warszawska-Lazurowa and Prymasa Tysiąclecia interchanges, grade-separated railway crossings and numerous viaducts. The investor was the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA), and the works were carried out by the consortium of Budimex Dromex S.A. (leader), Strabag Sp. z o.o., Mostostal Warszawa S.A. and Warbud S.A. The construction contract was signed on 22 January 2008 for PLN 2,149,235,184.89 gross; the value of the works contract accounted for the bulk of the total project value of PLN 2,728,223,303.37. The project was co-financed from European Union funds under the Cohesion Fund (Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2007–2013), with a maximum co-financing amount of PLN 1,573,726,046.51. Works under the contract were completed on the contractual deadline of 15 December 2010, and the section was opened to traffic on 19 January 2011.
