Works on railway line E20 on the Warsaw – Poznań section, remaining works, Sochaczew – Swarzędz section (second modernisation of E20)
The second, full modernisation of railway line E20 on the Sochaczew – Swarzędz section, the middle part of the Warsaw – Poznań corridor, carried out by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. and co-financed from the EU's Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) instrument. The project, officially named "Works on railway line E20 on the Warsaw – Poznań section, remaining works, Sochaczew – Swarzędz section", was divided into three contracts carried out in the areas of the Local Control Centres (Lokalne Centra Sterowania) in Łowicz, Kutno and Konin. The scope included the modernisation of approximately 366 km of track, the construction of a new overhead traction network approximately 659 km long, the reconstruction of five stations (Łowicz Główny, Kutno, Koło, Konin and Podstolice), the construction or reconstruction of 134 engineering structures, the installation of 269 turnouts, and modern traffic control systems. Works began in June 2017 and were originally scheduled to finish in November 2020. In a February 2024 response to a January parliamentary interpellation, the Ministry of Infrastructure stated that the modernisation of the section had been completed. According to the ministry, the project's budget was PLN 2.2 billion (January 2023; earlier estimates put it at around PLN 2.6 billion). According to PKP PLK data, the projected travel time between Warszawa Centralna and Poznań Główny after modernisation is 2 hours 24 minutes, one minute shorter than in the 2015/16 timetable. Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Piotr Malepszak assessed the overall picture of the modernisation as negative, citing the very small reduction in travel time and "a very large delay in carrying out the works".

Significance
The modernisation of the Sochaczew – Swarzędz section included new track, an overhead traction network, platforms at the largest stations (Łowicz, Kutno, Konin) and local control centres. The effect on travel time is small: according to PKP PLK, the projected Warsaw – Poznań travel time is 2 hours 24 minutes, one minute shorter than in the 2015/16 timetable towards Poznań and 8 minutes shorter towards Warsaw. Line E20 is part of Pan-European Transport Corridor II (Berlin – Warsaw – Moscow) within the TEN-T trans-European transport network, linking the two largest centres of western and central Poland.

Independence is counted the same way the gate that admits a record counts it: subdomains and titles from one publisher are a single voice, Wikipedia is zero. That is why the number is lower than the number of links. Three is the minimum.
