The Siekierkowska Route is a central-city thoroughfare in Warsaw approximately 8.1 km long, linking Mokotów (the junction at the meeting point of Czerniakowska and Witosa streets) with Praga-Południe (the "Marsa" junction) on the right bank of the Vistula. Its central and most recognisable element is the Siekierkowski Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge across the Vistula with two pylons 90.00 m and 90.06 m high. The foundation stone for the construction was laid on 1 March 2000; the bridge's main contractor was Mostostal Warszawa S.A., and the pylons were built by Warbud. The first section of the route, together with the bridge, opened on 21 September 2002, and construction of the entire route was completed in June 2007; the "Marsa" junction was finished in 2010. The investor was the Capital City of Warsaw (the role of substitute investor was performed by ZBM – Inwestor Zastępczy), and the road is managed by the Warsaw Roads Authority (Zarząd Dróg Miejskich w Warszawie). According to an audit by the Supreme Audit Office (NIK), the planned total cost of the investment was to be PLN 1,626,114 thousand, and by June 2003 PLN 1,042,319 thousand had been spent on it. NIK gave a negative assessment of the investment's preparatory phase: due to poorly conducted design work the city lost more than PLN 15 million, and as a result of an arbitration dispute over currency conversions it lost a further PLN 11.5 million.

Significance

The Siekierkowski Bridge and the Siekierkowska Route form a key river-crossing and road link between the left-bank and right-bank parts of Warsaw, enabling travel from Mokotów to Praga-Południe (Gocław, Saska Kępa, Grochów) and towards Lublin and Terespol while bypassing the city centre. The cable-stayed bridge across the Vistula, with pylons approximately 90 m high, is one of the distinctive features of the capital's skyline.

Every fact on this card comes from the sources below. Next to each source – which fields it supports.

Independence is counted the same way the gate that admits a record counts it: subdomains and titles from one publisher are a single voice, Wikipedia is zero. That is why the number is lower than the number of links. Three is the minimum.

A “wiki” mark means the value stands on Wikipedia alone. Our count of independent sources treats it as zero, so read such a place as less firmly documented than the rest of the card – that applies to an outcome row, a figure, a date and a status alike.
