Modernisation of tram and trolleybus infrastructure in the Upper Silesian Agglomeration, together with accompanying infrastructure (POIiŚ 2007–2013)
A strategic, EU-co-financed project to modernise the tram network in the Upper Silesian conurbation, carried out by Tramwaje Śląskie S.A. under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2007–2013 (Cohesion Fund; project no. POIS.07.03.00-00-012/11, among others). Implementation ran from October 2012 to December 2015. The total value of the undertaking was communicated at approximately PLN 800 million, with POIiŚ co-financing of approximately PLN 385 million (approximately 59 per cent of eligible costs); part of the outlay was financed by a loan from the European Investment Bank and by own funds. The scope included the modernisation and expansion of tram infrastructure on three main routes linking the conurbation's largest cities (Bytom, Chorzów, Katowice, Ruda Śląska, Sosnowiec, Zabrze) and investments in Tychy. Approximately 48 km of track and the overhead traction network were modernised, 30 new, partly low-floor Pesa 2012N Twist trams were purchased, and 75 trams of the 105Na type were modernised. It was one of the largest urban-transport projects carried out in Poland in the 2007–2013 EU financial perspective. Note: some sources (Polish Wikipedia) give a final settlement of approximately PLN 626.95 million in total cost and PLN 490.49 million in EU financing; the EU figure likely also includes the EIB loan.

Significance
The project was the largest modernisation to date of the core tram network in Poland's most densely populated conurbation. Approximately 48 km of track and the overhead traction network were modernised on three main routes linking the agglomeration's largest cities, and the fleet was strengthened by 30 new, partly low-floor Pesa 2012N Twist trams; a further 75 cars of the 105Na type were thoroughly refurbished. The undertaking, carried out under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2007–2013 with Cohesion Fund co-financing, was one of the largest urban-transport projects carried out in Poland in that EU financial perspective, and a starting point for subsequent stages of modernising the Tramwaje Śląskie network.
