A new tram route with a total length of over 2 km, linking the loop at os. Lecha with a new Franowo tram-and-bus loop and a new tram depot at Franowo, with an approximately 1 km section running through a tunnel (the tunnel is 1,067.2 m long, with two underground stops). The investment was one of four key Euro 2012 investments entrusted by the City of Poznań to the special-purpose vehicle Infrastruktura Euro Poznań 2012 Sp. z o.o., and was included in the government's list of Euro 2012 undertakings (Council of Ministers regulation, Journal of Laws 2007 No. 192 item 1385, item 37). The investor was the City of Poznań, represented by the Poznań Public Transport Authority (Zarząd Transportu Miejskiego w Poznaniu). The project's value was PLN 261.38 million, of which PLN 99 million was co-financing from the Wielkopolska Regional Operational Programme 2007–2013. Construction work was carried out from April 2011, and the ceremonial opening of the route and the tunnel took place on 11 August 2012.

Significance

The route linked the Rataje housing estates and retail complexes (M1, IKEA) with the city centre and the new Franowo tram depot, improving transport service in south-eastern Poznań in connection with the hosting of the UEFA EURO 2012 football championship. An approximately 1 km section of the route was routed through a 1,067.2 m long tunnel with two underground stops.
